With Orthodox Palm Sunday being celebrated by many Christians throughout the world, at St Basil’s on Sunday 9th April, Residents, clients, family and friends enjoyed the spiritual day among loved ones with a seafood lunch, receiving Holy Communion and making crosses using the significant palm leaf.
St Basil’s also hosted a Palm Sunday Luncheon at Nick’s Seafood at Sydney’s Cockle Bay Wharf. Among other guests, in attendance was His Grace Bishop Iakovos of Miletoupolis, Mr Yannis Mallikourtis, Consul General of Greece in Sydney, together with his wife, Mrs Christiana Stavrou, members of the Board of Directors, and Father Milton.
Our Palm Sunday celebrations were a perfect commemoration preceding Holy Week which is one of the most significant times in the Orthodox religious calendar.
