These are a few of my favourite things: William

A former NSW country dairy farmer, William who resides at St Basil’s Home in Randwick is best known by other residents as a charismatic gentleman and a social butterfly.

“I enjoy socialising with my buddies who live just down the corridor from me. Connecting with people is an important part of my day,” explains William.

William also has a consistent physical activity routine.

“I walk for over an hour every morning. If I can’t get outdoors to walk I circle the home and count the laps that I complete.”

“I like doing this to keep myself active and healthy, plus it allows me to interact with the community,” adds William.

With a robust evidence-based leisure and lifestyle program at St Basil’s Randwick, Pet Therapy is one of the most popular activities on the schedule.

“The home regularly has Pet Therapy sessions where puppies come to the home.”

“I really enjoy spending time with the pups and playing with them. This is my favourite item on the home’s leisure and lifestyle program calendar.”

William displays photos of his children and grandchildren in the display cabinet at his doorway, along with other memorabilia that reminds him of the several places where he has lived and run businesses including in country NSW, Sydney and Central Coast of NSW.
