Welcome to St Basil's - Lakemba

At St Basil’s, we aim to be your preferred aged care provider. We have a commitment to excellence which is reflected in our service to you, and that is precisely what you will discover at St Basil’s Lakemba.

With a day centre and residential aged care, St Basil’s Lakemba welcomes you as a member of the family from the moment you arrive.

Seniors Day Centres and Timeout For Carers

Located in Sydney’s inner west, Lakemba Day Centre was refurbished in 2012 to create a comfortable, home-like atmosphere. From the moment you walk into the centre, you will have the feeling that you are entering someone’s much-loved home.

The centre is secure and caters for the needs of people with dementia. It operates Monday to Saturday, with a dedicated flat onsite for respite care, which gives the carer some time out from their caring responsibilities.

The dining area is where our delicious, freshly cooked lunches are served. We also have a separate living area for rest, relaxation and socialising, while the internal courtyard is perfect for relaxed summer living and barbecues. Clients can also help prepare simple meals and refreshments in our large, open kitchen. And for some time out, why not borrow a good book from the Library and Resource Centre? St Basils Lakemba offers many spaces for family and friends to visit and spend time, as well as areas that can be reserved for special family gatherings.

Residential Aged Care

We offer two unique residential care options.

St Basil’s in Croydon Street, Lakemba, focuses on the lifestyle, traditions and customs of Greek-speaking people. The things that have always been a part of your life will continue to be so when you are a resident here.

You will be served authentic Greek meals and enjoy Greek television, movies and music, all offered as standard services. Rest and unwind in one of our lounges and courtyards; retreat to the chapel for quiet time and prayer; celebrate Easter by decorating and cracking red eggs; look forward to the Christmas spirit; and eat vasilopita on January 1, St Basil’s feast day. You may even find the lucky coin and have good luck all year!

‘The Olive Grove’ provides individualised care and attention for residents with dementia. Specially prepared meals, diversional therapy programs and secure indoor and outdoor spaces and gardens create a warm, welcoming and secure atmosphere.

St Basil’s on Haldon Street, Lakemba, is ideal for individuals looking for a little more independence while still having the security of knowing someone is close by. It has sweeping city views where you can catch a glimpse of the New Year’s Eve fireworks. Made possible by the late Sir Nicholas Lourantos, Lourantos Village (or LV, as it is affectionately known) continues to welcome new residents almost four decades after its official opening. Here, they quickly make new friends, and our friendly staff will go out of their way to ensure the comfort and happiness of residents – whether it’s stopping to have a chat or serving afternoon tea in one of our lounges.

We provide all the support necessary for residents to settle in and have a happy experience. Our regular bus outings include visits to the Sydney Opera House and Royal Botanic Gardens, so with our busy program of activities you will need to somehow find time at home for family and friends to visit!

Our Palliative Care Room is a very special and secluded space offering kitchen and dining facilities with overnight accommodation for a family member.

Our professional nursing care is discreet, respects your privacy and is available around the clock.

St Basil’s Lakemba is located within walking distance of Lakemba shops, buses and the train station. Belmore shops and Centro Roselands are a short drive away, and Canterbury and Bankstown Hospitals are also in the area.
